A freebie and viral marketing example

I’m giving you this report today for 2 reasons: first, because it’s a really useful read; second, it’s a prime example of viral marketing.

It’s called “7 Deadly Webmaster Secrets…And How YOU Can Avoid Them!” by Billy Davis. I first spotted this report on a membership site I belong to, and downloaded it to have a look. Now, there are a lot of ads in this report, and to be honest I was a little put off by them at first. However, once I started reading the report I was impressed. The information is sound, and it doesn’t only tell you where you might be going wrong online, but the best ways to do things too. It covers subjects including web design, content, SEO and more. Very useful stuff.

Where does the viral marketing bit come in? Well, those ads that are in the report are of course links to the seller’s premium products. The report, when downloaded through a membership site, comes with a rebranding tool to change some of the affiliate links – great for the promoter. That, along with giveaway or resale rights, means that a lot of marketers are going to be offering this to their lists or site visitors (me included). The more that do that, the more it spreads around the internet and the more products are bought through the links. That’s viral, and it gives you a good idea of how you could do something similar yourself.
