Squidoo and Residual Income
A common question around marketing circles is “Do you Squidoo?” If you don’t yet know what Squidoo is or you don’t know if you should do anything with it, then read on to discover some ways to make residual income with a Squidoo lens.
What is a lens? Simply, it’s a webpage where you can write about a hobby, a business, an affiliate product, a favourite celebrity or pretty much anything you can think of. It’s easily done with software provided by Squidoo. You give your lens a suitable name, and then choose from a selection of modules to add different parts to the lens. With these you have the ability to add text, affiliate links, videos, photos and more.
You get a bio box which gets placed on each lens plus a detailed profile page that viewers to your lens can access. There you can add links to your other websites, your Twitter and Facebook details, and any online stores you have such as eBay or Zazzle. It’s a great way to get backlinks to your sites plus extra visitors. In addition, you can add keyword tags to your lens that will help with search engine placement.
Many marketers use Squidoo as a tool to drive traffic to an affiliate product. To do this, you set up a lens with details of the product, a link to it and extras like video tutorials or details of useful books to accompany the product. You don’t have to add the extras, but like most web pages, it’s worth adding information to the page to provide value for the visitor. That way, they’re more inclined to stay on the page, read it and then purchase through you. Plus you won’t be seen as a spammer.
The other main way to earn money with Squidoo is to use a lens to get commissions on store products. Pick your subject, add articles, add links to products in stores such as Amazon (these come with pictures and you can add descriptions) and any other suitable links including to your own sites. If you do your homework on keywords and add these to your page as tags, you can soon have a site generating money each month. Aside from an occasional update, there is little else you need do with the lens, so the income is mostly passive. And you can have as many lenses as you can think of subjects for.
